Wrestlemania 32: The Fine Line Between Satisfaction And Failure

WrestleMania 32 The WWE's marquee event is live on April 3rd, 2016 and many WWE faithful are thus far reserving judgement as has been the case in recent years.

Once again we are faced with some questionable booking and yes... Another Main Event featuring Roman Reigns. Since the 2015 WrestleMania the WWE has been devastated by injuries and I think it's fair to say the WWE weather the storm as best as it could have.

In response to declining ratings we seen Vince return to TV. Kalisto win the US Title. Triple H return to the ring and become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Some wars between Brock and The Undertaker. Roman Reigns continues to headline in spite of the fans and the continued rise of Dean Ambrose. The Divas Revolution which is on it's last legs as groups have fractured. While Raw hasn't gotten much new blood outside of AJ Styles and the return of Sami Zayn we've also seen the cupboards continue to be loaded in NXT.

So reality is our options were always going to be limited with NXT graduations coming much slower than many have hoped in spite of the mass injuries to the main roster.

A quick look and break down of the main card with the list via Wikipedia

Andre "The Giant" Memorial Battle Royal is a throw in with little to no implications going forward but an over the top rope elimination is always worth a watch. While all the entrants are yet to be finalized I'm putting my money on Tyler Breeze to win it for the trophy selfie opportunities.

The Uso's vs The Dudley Boys - Flip a coin and the winner is... It doesn't matter! You can build it for two months but there are no implications here. A title shot? Even if The New Day loses to the League of Nations the tag titles will be tied up another month at least.

7- man Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship - This one has Zayn/Owens written all over it. The two could cancel out which opens the door for Ziggler but the rest are fillers to take some bumps.

Divas Championship
Charlotte vs Becky Lynch vs Sasha Banks - You have to think Lynch or Banks walk out of AT&T Stadium. There are too many Divas struggling to stay relevant at the moment and Charlotte has been underwhelming as champion.

United States Championship
Kalisto vs Ryback - I'm happy to see Ryback trying to make changes but it's still not enough. Frankly he needs a win here. Losing to Kalisto pretty much cements him as a career jobber.

WWE Tag Team Championships
The New Day vs The League of Nations - The beating they put on the New Day was impressive and cringe-worthy. Now lets see if they can follow it up otherwise I don't see a team on the main roster who can unseat the New Day hype train.

Hell In A Cell
Shane McMahon Vs The Undertaker - This one is going to be crazy one way or another. Shane will fly. Taker will do tons of damage. This match guaranteed will be decided by outside interference and it could be a wild one regardless. Big implications either way. I'm going with the Undertaker on the basis that losing to Lesnar is one thing... dropping another Mania match only hurts the Deadman's legacy.

Street Fight
Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar - This is my pick for match of the night. This will be must see WWE. It's going to be brutal to watch and I guarantee an instant classic. Winner - Brock Lesnar. We've seen Ambrose get destroyed by Lesnar a few times and I don't think weapons are going to be enough to even this one up. Expect Lesnar to set his sights on Reigns or Triple H next

WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H vs Roman Reigns - I'll pick this as the match that has the most potential to be a bust. Damned if you do damned if you don't in this case. Triple H walking out champ must line up a title match with Lesnar. Roman Reigns as Champ will lead to deafening boos and me personally turning off my tv in disgust. Frankly it's Triple H or bust here. A third title for Reigns does nothing to put him over and that's the entire reason Triple H is back to active duty.

In conclusion - This whole night could be hit and miss. Everyone brings their A game but they're really going to need a few A+ performances to live up to the WrestleMania name. The Hell In A Cell match must bring intrigue and blow away expectations in order for this event to considered a success rather than average at best.

Then as Triple H was being helped to the back Reigns turned back on the ramp and ran down to hit another spear. Reigns finally left after all the carnage and fans were left in shock at what could finally be the turn and hype Roman Reigns has been lacking.

Pain is the theme this month. WWE Injured list

We'll start the review with one of the biggest injuries in recent WWE history. While on the WWE Live European Tour Rollins was injured on the first stop in Dublin, Ireland. Bad injury. Worse timing.
Breaking: Seth Rollins INJURED expected to miss 6 to 9 months

This led to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament which Roman Reigns would go on to win at Survivor Series. After a couple minutes to celebrate the PPV would end in a shocking turn as Sheamus would go on to cash in and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

That wasn't the end of the injury news though. After a match with Roman Reigns in the WHC tournament Cesaro would fall prey to the injury bug with a shoulder injury.
Superman Grounded: Another WWE Star to miss 4-6 months

Randy Orton suffered a shoulder injury which will sideline him for 4-6 months
The Viper to miss 4 to 6 months

This was offset by the early return of Rusev. Who missed time with a torn bicep muscle. He would make an immediate impact attacking Roman Reigns on the Raw following Survivor Series.
Rusev Returns

Dean Ambrose won a triple threat on the most recent Smackdown to become the number one contender for Kevin Owens Intercontinental Championship.
11/26 Smackdown

The Uso's and Lucha Dragons will face The New Day at the TLC ppv. No word yet but it may be a triple threat TLC match. The final WWE event of the month Raw saw a 7 on 4 handicap match that became a 7 on 3 after one of the Uso's left the match with an injured knee.
WWE Raw Results 11/30

To top off what's been a poor month on the injury front the WWE's ratings have continued to fall and it's only a matter of time before Vince McMahon pushed the panic button and big changes come.

They then introduce the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus who comes out and again mocks Roman Reigns title reign. The New Day leaves the ring while Sheamus has pyro and confetti for his championship celebration. He turns though and receives a Superman Punch from Roman Reigns who takes the title with him when he exits.

In the back we see the Authority stop Reigns and take the title from him. They tell him he can have a title shot tonight but he must defeat Sheamus in 5:15. Later on they would stipulate that Reigns must win in order for the Uso's to have a title shot and for Dean Ambrose to keep his shot at Kevin Owens.

The Main event is up next. Just as the match was about to start The New Day come out and say they've convinced the Authority to allow them to join the League of Nations tonigt.

The League of Nations(Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Rusev, King Barrett) and The New Day defeat Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and The Uso's - One of the Uso's is injured mid match making it a 7 vs 3. As you would expect the numbers game was too much and most of the match was isolation of the Uso's.

Open letter to the WWE

To the WWE, Vince McMahon, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, WWE Creative and to whom it may concern.

I write this to confess my love for wrestling more than to criticize. I am a huge fan. I've been a loyal supporter of the company since I was a child and with that being said I've been along for the up's and down's over the years.

I was inspired to write this after watching SmackDown this week. I thoroughly enjoyed it. When my main man Seth Rollins was injured in Dublin I cringed because A. he's so damn impressive b. because I felt the roster is pretty thin on star power at the moment and the company seems to be in a bit of a valley already as far as ratings go.

It's important to focus on a couple things that made SmackDown not only watchable but enjoyable this week. I'll start with the win for Kalisto. This match caused my family to burst out in cheers and a round of applause. I haven't reacted like this since the glory days of Stone Cold Steve Austin. When Austin would find a way to beat the system just when it seemed like the odds were so stacked against him.

I think I speak for the majority when I say the squash match must die. Coming in it looked clear cut. When the bracket first flashed on TV on Raw I said to myself Ryback vs Kalisto... come on. But when Kalisto beat Ryback it struck a chord for me.

The last few weeks the Lucha Dragons stood out especially Kalisto but for him to win seemed so far fetched.

Much like in the martial art Jiu Jitsu you should never underestimate anyone and what we finally got to see this week is a guy who brings far more every time he's in the ring finally get a result more deserving of his ability. Kalisto is superior to Ryback in the ring this is not even debatable. If you took muscle out of the equation it's a landslide.

That said with all due respect the programming has become painfully predictable. I think there are so many people out there(myself included) with so many ideas and it just blows my mind that things have been the same for so long now.

I'm not saying put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Kalisto but WOW this win could be the start of something special if you allow it.

To be frank I'm tired of guys like Ryback. Ryback would be a megastar in Vince Sr's territory but this is 2015. We need more results like this to shake everything up. Reinvent yourself!

The independent circuit is more popular than it has ever been because it's evolved. For a long time promotions followed the WWE's lead by getting the biggest most muscular guys but now it's high speed, high intensity and a blast to watch.

To continue to promote the Reign's and Ryback's as these good guy hero straight shooters only shoots yourself in the foot.

Daniel Bryan didn't become a star because he yells Yes! Daniel Bryan became a star because he's fun to watch. He's fast, he takes risks and he's innovative.

The company can't continue to force things on the fans because now more than ever the fans are aware.

The fans have been guiding the ship more and more of late so why would you fight the current? Let the fans decide what works and what doesn't. Don't tell me Roman Reigns is the next champion when he's universally disliked and it's not because he's a heel... it's because he's stale. I don't accept that as a fan. The fans boo Reigns for the same reason they boo John Cena. It's a tired old act and seeing the same four moves every show is exhausting to watch.

I completely respect the dedication of the athletes no question but if you can jerk Brad Maddox and Adam Rose around and toy with their gimmicks and careers then you can do the same for everyone else regardless of them having the "look"  as the look is changing.

We do not want consistency! We want unpredictability! We want fresh faces and gimmicks. We want to see independent performers appear more often. We want people we can cheer for! Not people you want us to cheer for. Let the best talents carve their own path.

One last complaint is match results. I get that factions and stables have been around since the beginning of professional wrestling but do they really have to decide every results leading up to and at every PPV? Seth Rollins for example is in my opinion the best athlete in the company and you're telling me he needs to cheat to win every night? Rollins is a physical freak of nature.  He may not be as big as Reigns but nobody would question him winning clean most nights.

Enough of the walk outs, count outs, DQ's. I watch wrestling to be wowed by the performances and follow the characters that intrigue me but if more than 50% of matches end prematurely it becomes brutal to watch. You're telling me Bray Wyatt can't afford to let Harper and Rowan lose on SmackDown? There are no titles on the line and yet he absolutely had to interfere as if Harper and Rowan were being beaten with chairs or something.

Gone are the days of people running out to help their pals because they're outnumbered... No. Now everyone involved is at ringside and they're interfering 100% of the time. For example there is no point having Stardust vs anyone if the Ascension are at ringside because you know what's coming.

Going back to Smackdown this week it had a couple great matches that also happened to be clean finishes and between stars that typically wouldn't get the TV time. Neville vs Barrett and Kalisto vs Ryback both went on longer than usual and we got to see Barrett look strong despite the loss and Kalisto pulls off that huge upset and we absolutely need more of this.

Make it more about the performance in the ring and less about the storyline that needs to be built. I'd love to see more rivalries stem from two superstars having an awesome match. Cena vs Owens trilogy was great because they put on a show every time and neither one needed his buddies to help him out. It was classic. The first win by Owens stunned a lot of people and although there was the unfortunate and predictable comeback by Cena in the next two matches this rivalry was excellent. The only way it could have been better was Owens taking the series 2-1.

I could go on and on and on and on and on.....and on and on but I'll stop here. It's 2:30 in the morning. Rant over

WWE Singles Rankings Update 11/03/2015

+1
1. Brock Lesnar - The Beast rises one to the top spot after an instant classic at Hell In A Cell. The best match of the rivalry with the Undertaker by far. Brock using the low blow proves The Beast Incarnate wants to win as much as he wants to bring the pain and that's bad news for anyone in his path.
-0
2. Seth Rollins - His team might have lost but he survived to the end and managed to do some damage to Reigns and Ambrose with the chair. The Architect is unaffected by this loss
-0
3. Kevin Owens - Owens for the second Raw in a row pulls double duty and goes 1-1. First a win over The Show Off Dolph Ziggler and second last to be eliminated from Team Rollins
+1
4.  Roman Reigns - Team Reigns picked up the win on Raw and The Powerhouse strikes first against the Architect in the lead up to Survivor Series
+1
5. Alberto Del Rio - The United States Champ had a good match with R-Truth and came out on top but it's the fall of Cena that moves him up a spot this week
+2
6. Cesaro - The King of Swing spun his way to victory this week over The Miz. Another strong performance by the Swiss Superman and he should see a title shot on the horizon.
-1
7. Sheamus - Sheamus and Barrett lost a very good match to the Lucha Dragons on Raw. The two big men failed to use their size and power advantage and it cost them.
+3
8. Dean Ambrose - Ambrose is still tied to Reigns and you have to wonder how much longer it goes on. Ambrose's stock is stagnating as Reigns gets another push. A win in the Raw Survivor Series 5vs5 match and injuries help him move up a few spots.

+1
9. Bray Wyatt - A new feud with the Brothers of Destruction is in the works but Bray benefits more from the fall of other superstars more than anything he's doing.
-6
10. John Cena- Continues to fall due to time off.

-2 11. Rusev - An injury has sidelined The Bulgarian Brute and his fall down the rankings begins.
+3
 12. Ryback - Ryback rises after a decent performance for Team Reigns on Raw. He has the chance to step his game up with an unstable top 10

-1
13. Dolph Ziggler - Ziggler can't catch a break. First Rusev now Tyler Breeze. Dolph continues to put on good matches but continues to fall short time after time.

-1
14. Wade Barrett - Barrett and Sheamus failed to pick up a win against a smaller weaker Lucha Dragons team on Raw.
- previously unranked
15. Tyler Breeze - While Breeze has yet to make his debut he has managed to be a major distraction to Dolph Ziggler. For a third straight time he's stood tall over a beaten down Ziggler.
